In his head a man plants his course, but the Lord determines his steps. Proverbs 16:9

When Harry met Sally opened in theaters in 1989 and was a hit from day 1. The question the movie tries to answer is “Can men and women ever just be friends?”

The movie starts out in 1977 when Harry Burns and Sally Albright first meet. They have just graduated from the University of Chicago and are traveling to New York to start careers and new lives. The question comes up, can men and women just be friends and Harry says no. Someone always wants something more. After this very fun trip, they don’t see each other for ten years.

When we see them next, they have both just gotten out of very serious relationships. They are too broken from their breakups to look for romance, but that doesn’t stop Sally from setting her best friend, Marie, up with Harry, and Harry setting up his best friend, Jess, with Sally. Carrie Fished and Bruno Kirby make the perfect best friends…and before you know it, they fall in love with each other!

Drama, drama, drama! So much absolutely fun drama takes us to Jess and Marie’s wedding. It’s so obvious that Harry and Sally are head over heels for each other, everyone can see it except for them.

But don’t worry, everything works out in the end!
This is a must see movie! The actors are wonderful and so is the scenery! New York the way it should be, beautiful and exciting…the city that never sleeps! Harry Connick Jr’s music is fabulous. I have listened to the soundtrack over and over again. He is truly this era’s Frank Sinatra! The hair and costumes are beautiful. I am lucky enough to remember the beautiful clothes of the 1980’s. This movie does not disappoint. The details are wonderful!I love to watch closely to pick up things I’ve missed before. The blouse in the delicatessen scene has two buttons side by side at the collar, such a tiny detail, but it adds so much! It is a must see movie…that you will be happy to see again and again!
