He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Psalm 23:2-3

My husband traveled the Asia Pacific regions for years with his work. During this time he played on some of the most beautiful golf courses in the world. This is the Susono Country Club golf course in Susono, Japan. Can you see Mount Fuji in the background?!!!

Golf has been around for a very long time! It was first played in the 15th century in Scotland…or maybe a little earlier in China…or maybe even earlier in Rome! Historian can’t decide… The Old Course at St. Andrews dates to before 1574. The first 18 hole course was created in 1764 at St. Andrews. Golf didn’t come to the United States until 1888! We have really made up for lost time!

I grew up in South Texas where the weather is almost always sunny and perfect for a good game of golf! My favorite couple from high school days have fallen in love with golf and travel to some of the most gorgeous golf courses around. I love hearing their stories and seeing their pictures! Can I just live in the middle of a golf course??? Not on the edge, I want to live right in the middle of the most beautiful fairway!

I have been in love with The Masters golf tournament ever since I was a little girl. My father played golf every Saturday morning with the same group of friends for years! On Masters weekend we would all gather around the television to watch the action. I loved the quiet voice of the announcers. It all seemed so elegant. When the club connects with the ball, that sound…it’s magical. How do they do that?

Do you have a favorite golf movie? Do you even watch golf movies?? We do! My all time favorite golf movie is The Legend of Bagger Vance! I love the story and the actors were perfect for their roles! This movie starred Matt Damon, Will Smith, and Charlize Theron and they were wonderful! But I really love the little boy, Hardy Greaves, played by J. Michael Moncrief, and Jack Lemmon, who plays the grown up Hardy Greaves. He is such an inspirational character! My favorite line in the movie is when he tells Randolph Junuh that golf is the greatest game there ever is! It’s fun, It’s hard…and most people are basically honest when they play! It has the best storyline!!! I just bought the book that the movie is based on…I’ll let you know if I love it!

Tea-Time at the Masters is such a wonderful cookbook it has sold more that 274,000 copies!!! It was first printed in 1977, my copy is from 2014. I love that it is full of recipes from famous golf courses, players wives, and recipes from regular people that live in Augusta!

Gladys told me about a Master tournament secret drink that you can only find at Stand 12. You know how Starbucks has a secret menu, the Master’s has a secret drink! It’s super pretty and yummy and I’ll share the recipe below. Evidently the people working at Stand 12 decided to experiment with the ingredients they had and wow! They came up with a beauitiful yummy drink!

Stand 12
Fill a clear glass with ice. Add pink lemonade until the glass is 1/3 to 1/2 full. Add about 2 ounces or Sprite ( I added a little extra for fun). Turn a spoon upside down and pour the Powerade on top of the spoon. That allows for the Powerade to sit on top of the drink and the colors don’t mix. It’s super easy and super yummy! If you want to kick it up another notch you can add 2 ounces of your choice of a clear liquor. (Thanks southernparm.com for the recipe!)

Have fun while you watch the Master’s this weekend! Who do you want to win??? There are so many good players, it’s hard to choose. Special thanks to my good friend Gladys and Richard for the wonderful pictures of their golfing vacations and for telling me about the secret Stand 12 recipe! It’s so good!!!
