Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, Colossians 3:23
Our son in law just received his MBA from Texas A&M in Corpus Christi! The Islanders are the official mascot for the school and the graduates received real flower leis! They were beautiful, made from plumeria blossoms! Do you see the Lady Lexington in the background? Corpus is such an interesting place!
Graduating is a wonderful thing. Whether you are graduating from high school, college, or receiving a graduate degree, graduating means that you have successfully completed all of the tasks laid out for you. The school often doesn’t take into account what is going on in your personal life, they just care if you pass their classes. Our son in law had so many things going on in life, it would have been easy for him to put off going back to school, but he knew that for his family to prosper he would have to do it. So with a new baby, a new job, and a new home, Niles headed back to school and completed his MBA in record time with a 3.95 GPA! We are so proud of him and can’t wait to see what his future holds!
The sun was so bright it was hard to get good pictures after the ceremony. Baby Davy however didn’t have any trouble sleeping through the whole thing! In honor of his mother’s hometown, Davy is wearing a super cute Shark Week bib from Busy Bee Gifts! They make the cutest things! Davy’s mom’s dress is from Anthropologie and is shockingly pink! I love it!!!
After graduation we all headed to our favorite waterfront restaurant, Snoopy’s! We have been eating at Snoopy’s since I was a kid. You can find the yummiest seafood ever. We always eat on the dock where we can watch the pelicans and the fishing boats going back and forth.
Look at this gorgeous sailboat sailing by Snoopy’s Pier! You don’t get views like this anywhere else.
Then we were off to the beach! Can you imagine a better place to unwind? Mustang Island is a wonderful beach on the Gulf Coast. It was really busy this weekend, school is getting ready to start in Texas and lots of families were taking advantage of the great weather.
I have always thought that I was one of the luckiest people on the planet. I got to grow up on the beach! We drove by the water every single day. I miss it every day, but we made sure to bring our kids to the island at least once a year when they were growing up. Usually it is much more often! The Gulf of Mexico and Mustang Island are just beautiful…as well as so many other beautiful places along the coast!Coastal Closet and Snoopy’s were well represented at our graduation party! I love Nest candles and this one from the Gray Malin collection smells wonderful! Coastal Closet has a huge selection of Nest candles, Lilly Pulitzer, and so much more!
After all of the fun, we headed back to our beach condo to celebrate the day with a little party. I did a lot of shopping in Port Aransas for the best beach party ever!
This adorable charcuterie box came from Miss K’s Kitchen in Port Aransas. It’s full of enough yummy things to make up a meal for at least two people. They call it the Snacklebox! I love it! It was full of fruit, cheese, crackers, deli meat, and yummy cookies. It comes in a plastic container like your would put fishing lures in…a tackle box…so the name Snacklebox is perfect! It would be ideal to take to the beach for a quick lunch. It fit nicely in my round Lilly Pulitzer cooler!Miss K’s is also a bakery. I cut their snickerdoodle bars into bite sized pieces. That way it didn’t seem like we were eating so much!!! They were delicious!!!I love tiny cupcakes in tiny shovels! I got this idea from Amanda Barkley Floral. She is so talented. Watch her stories! You won’t believe the ideas you will get!Of course we had to have several bags of the graduates favorite treat, Swedish Fish!!! Have you noticed the wonderful place cards and little calligraphy flags? They were done by R E Smith’s Designs. She is new to Etsy and I absolutely love her work!Little beach pails and sea themed silly straws from Amazon were tons of fun!Baby sister took lots of fun pictures out on the balcony!Davy wasn’t very thrilled with the beach. The wind blows very hard close to the water and the waves were a little bit scary, but he looked adorable in his Shrimp and Grits Kids outfit! Is that little sailboat not the cutest thing ever?!? We love our Davy!!!Our trip to the beach ended way too soon and we had to get back on the ferry and head home. If you haven’t driven your car on a ferry you are really missing out! The ferry ride from Port Aransas to Rockport only lasts about 5 minutes, unfortunately we had to wait about 30 minutes to get on the boat. Who knew we were leaving during rush hour? Getting off of the boat was a breeze! The only scary part was the men working on the ferry made us get REALLY close to the car in front of us! But we made it without a problem. We can’t wait until our next trip to the coast! I hope you had fun celebrating with my family!!!
