And when evening came, Jesus was reclining at the table with the Twelve. Matthew 26:20

Last Saturday we had a beautiful ladies luncheon at church. The theme was Table Grace and each table had a hostess or two that set up their table and made the other ladies at the table feel welcome! I played hostess with my two daughters to a table that’s theme was The Season of Singing. Song of Songs 2:11-12 is one of my favorite Bible verses. It is all about the coming of Spring. Winter is past, the season of singing has come!

Each table was different, designed by the lovely ladies at our church. Their creativity is wonderful! I have seen tablescape parties that use the most expensive of everything and they don’t compare to these lovely tables.

My family is relatively new to our church. We haven’t been as active a we usually are. The pandemic, and a lot of health issues have kept us home more that I would like. This ladies luncheon used to be a yearly thing, but the pandemic put a pause on it. Our new Women’s Minister hadn’t head of anything like it before. The ladies of the church showed her how to do it and this beautiful luncheon went off without a hitch! I made so many new friends. This is the way a luncheon should be, full of love, beauty, and fun! As someone that has belonged to the church less than 40 years, I felt totally welcome! You know that’s a big deal in the church lady world.

I met two ladies that reminded me so much of my best friend and I. They were wandering around the tables admiring all of the beautiful work, and giggling! I introduced myself and got to know the sweetest new friends on the planet! I want to be an 80 year old giggler! They had also been members of the church for 40 years and best friends for 40 years. They taught me an important lesson; always enjoy the beauty around you, have fun, and never stop laughing. Even though we are a little young, my husband and I are definitely going to join their Sunday School class. They told me that they have so much fun!

Our speaker at today’s luncheon was really wonderful. She walked us through her life and the different tables she has sat at. Her childhood table, where her family didn’t gather often; to a dear friends table where they gathered quite often. She shared about the table that her family sat around with her two boys, the same table growing up with them from birth through college; and she shared about the table she now shares with just her husband. The most important table she shared with us about is the table that we will all gather around with Jesus in heaven. That is the most important table and the one you want to make sure you’re at! The Bible lays out everything you need to know, but one verse pretty much says it all. Just follow John 3:16. For God so loved the world that he sent his only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. You just have to believe!

If you don’t have a current church home, I hope you will start looking today. It’s so important to have friends to fellowship with! Friends that you can giggle with, and friends that you can study God’s word with. I’m so happy that I found Tallowood Baptist Church and all of these sweet ladies to call my friends!

May God bless you as we continue through this Easter season!
