I have been a member of many book clubs. Most of them have been in person and they have all been terrible. The in person book clubs that I have been a member of have almost no interest in books and a lot of interest in gossip and drinking. Am I the only one? After the last disasterous book club I was a member of ( it was my neighbors and they spent hours every month tearing each other down…I need to move!), I decided to give up on book clubs and just enjoy reading. Out of no where an Instagram post for The Enchanted Book Club showed up and I decided to give book clubs one more chance.
I was one of the first subscribers to The Enchanted Book Club and it has been such a wonderful experience! Hayley is so organized and poised, she is an excellent leader! Every month we have a book to read and zoom calls to discuss or even better the author might be a part of our discussion. That is really special! We have had several authors join us, including Susan Branch and today we had a discussion with Cath Kidston. It is so special to learn about their lives and in the case of these two ladies, their homes!
In the beginning of The Enchanted Book Club we used to have Zoom calls where we would share our favorite books. I LOVED those calls! I love to share my books and I can honestly say that my library grew after every call. I love beautiful books and I love to display them!
The Enchanted Book Club has branched out to literary travel! So far they have visited England and Concord! They saw so many sites related to Jane Austen and Louisa May Alcott. In June they will head to Prince Edward Island for a conference on Lucy Maud Montgomery and her wonderful Anne of Green Gables books! The other book club I am a member of is The Literary Book Club. It is a subscription based club that sends out a fabulous package of literary fun once a quarter, with extra boxes thrown in if you’re interested. I have only recently joined this club. The first box I received was filled with an Agatha Christie book, The Mysterious Affair at Styles and a lot of mysterious goodies. I had never read an Agatha Christie novel, so this was a real treat and honestly the reason I joined the Literary Book Club. I had been terribly neglectful of the mystery genre and this was the perfect book to start off my journey…it is the first book with Hercule Poirot!
This quarter we received The Enchanted April which is one of my favorite books! I have read it, listened to it on audiobook, and watched the movie. The charm of four strangers coming together to spend the entire month of April in an Italian castle is heavenly. Most of their time was spent in a beautiful garden. Can you imagine anything more wonderful?
One of the fun parts of The Literary Book Club is the fun prizes that come in your box! There are prizes when you first open the box, a lovely bookmark, really beautiful stickers that go along with the book, and prizes for while you read. So far the prizes for while you read have been snacks that I really enjoyed! As you read there are prizes that go along with the book. You have to wait until you’ve read the page of the prize bag to open it. I love looking for the clues on the page, this is so much fun! At the end of the book, there’s a prize to help you enjoy and remember the book. I absolutely love the last prize in The Enchanted April’s box! Don’t you love how everything is purple and reminds you of wisteria! They really paid attention to detail!
Another custom book just for The Literary Book Club members coming up soon is The Blue Castle by Lucy Maud Montgomery. It’s stunning and I can’t wait to receive it!!!
