For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

Today is the first Sunday of Advent and we light the purple candle representing hope and the prophecy found in the book of Isaiah. How could a man predict the birth of Jesus 700 years before it happened? I think it shows that God had this planned out since the beginning! Read the whole passage and see how it all came true!
Here it is in the New International Version of the Bible:

And here it is in the King James Version of the Bible:

Isaiah wrote this around 700 years before Jesus was born!!! Every word of it came true! God knew that we were going to need a savior. We were a mess 700 year ago, and we are still a mess today. I urge you to start your Christmas season by reading Isaiah’s prophecy and then read the story of Jesus’s birth in Luke 2, and Matthew 2. They tell the same story, but different parts. You need to read both stories to get the full picture. I’m so glad that God put these very wise men on earth to record the important parts of Jesus’s life. The more you read your Bible, the more you learn and the closer you will feel to God. My favorite versions of the Bible are the NIV and the King James Version. When I am tired and need an easy to understand version, I read the New International Version, when I am doing an in-depth study, trying to get as much meaning as possible, I read the King James Version. That is why I put both of them up here for you to read. Which one helps you the most?

During the Pandemic, we couldn’t go to church during the Advent season, so I decided to make my own Advent wreath for our home. I am so thankful that we can go to church again and enjoy the beautiful Advent wreath there, but I still make an advent wreath at home. My wreath this year looks rather sad, I ordered greenery and ribbon so that I could try to copy Meredith’s beautiful wreath, but everything has been delayed. So for the first Sunday of Advent I will celebrate with what I have and I know that it is beautiful in its own way.
I made a Pinterest board with some of my favorite Advent Wreaths. You can look for it on Pinterest at The Season of Singing, Beautiful Advent Wreaths. It is making me plan ahead for next year! I shouldn’t wait until the last minute for this very important Christmas tradition!
I’m praying for everyone to have a peaceful and happy holiday season!
Merry Christmas!!!!
